Excerpt

Malignant melanoma is a serious form of skin cancer. It arises from the melanocytes which in turn originate from neural crest cells. The overall survival at 5 years depends on the extent and stage of the disease at diagnosis. Patients with advanced-stage melanoma are more likely to develop metastasis. This topic will discuss the distant metastatic disease of malignant melanoma involving the central nervous system (CNS).
