Scholarly experiences in medical education: Considering authorship

Abstract

In graduate school, I had the opportunity to engage in a scholarly experience that I shared with a fellow student. Wanting to impress the professor, my classmate and I spent weeks in the library tracking down source materials and crafting our arguments. So, when during a team meeting, the professor casually dropped that the piece might be publishable, we eagerly returned to the stacks and continued the project beyond the term's end date.
