Photoelastic analysis of post core restorations

Aust Dent J. 1977 Jun;22(3):157-9. doi: 10.1111/j.1834-7819.1977.tb04480.x.

Abstract

Photoelastic models were used to analyse the effects of stress distribution around post-core systems. Parallel post designs were found to distribute stress more evenly to the tooth root, as compared to tapered posts. Screwed posts were found to be more undersirable.
