Serum antioxidant activity in neonates

Arch Dis Child. 1988 Jul;63(7 Spec No):748-50. doi: 10.1136/adc.63.7_spec_no.748.

Abstract

Antioxidant activity was measured in cord sera from 25 infants whose birth weights ranged from 830 to 3700 g. Antioxidant activity showed a significant positive association with birth weight. Deficiency in serum antioxidant activity may be important in the pathogenesis of certain neonatal disorders such as retinopathy of prematurity.
