Comparing Detection of Alzheimer's and Vascular Disease-Related Cognitive Impairment With Brief Cognitive Screens

Abstract

For 98 veterans who underwent comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation due to concern for cognitive decline, the Modified Mini-Mental State Examination (3MS) detected cognitive impairment better than the MMSE. 3MS is recommended for first-line screening of cognitive symptoms in older adults.
