Recommended dietary intakes (RDI) of iron in humans

Am J Clin Nutr. 1987 Apr;45(4):679-86. doi: 10.1093/ajcn/45.4.679.

Abstract

Evidence is presented that requirements for dietary iron must take into account increasing percentage absorbability of iron from plant foods as quantity of iron in such foods decreases and, also, toxicity of iron. Recommendations appropriate to this evidence are presented.
