Authors' response: Proliferative retinopathy in chronic myeloid leukemia and diabetes: A "double whammy"

Surv Ophthalmol. 2022 Nov-Dec;67(6):1731-1732. doi: 10.1016/j.survophthal.2022.07.004. Epub 2022 Jul 21.

Abstract

This editorial discusses that the diabetic proliferative retinopathy progresses as a result of ischemia angiogenic stimuli, which may be exacerbated by concomitant CML retinopathy generating increased blood viscosity and vascular endothelial growth factor levels.

Keywords: Chronic myeloid leukemia; diabetes; ophthalmic manifestations; proliferative retinopathy.
