Reproductive toxicological investigations with sennosides

Arzneimittelforschung. 1986 Sep;36(9):1355-8.

Abstract

These trials were carried out to ascertain whether sennosides have any influence on reproduction in rats and rabbits. After intragastric administration there was no evidence of any embryolethal, teratogenic or fetotoxic action. Furthermore, sennosides had no effect on the postnatal development of young animals, on the rearing behaviour of mother animals or on male or female fertility.
