The following article describes the program for the study of optometry to begin at Israel's Tel Aviv University in the 1987/1988 academic year. Details of the proposed structure, facilities and curriculum are presented. In addition, background is provided as to the current vision care system in Israel, and how the absence of a school of optometry has influenced its condition.
