Revolutionizing dentistry: Exploring the potential of facial scanners for precise treatment planning and enhanced patient outcomes

J Prosthet Dent. 2024 Jul;132(1):1-5. doi: 10.1016/j.prosdent.2024.02.036. Epub 2024 Apr 15.

Abstract

An innovative method for aligning face scans with intraoral scans is introduced, leveraging a novel 3D printed device. This technique addresses the longstanding challenge of accurately merging these two types of dental scans by incorporating a physical reference point-the nose-into both scans for precise alignment. This advancement promises to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of digital dental diagnostics and treatments.
