Flupenthixol and Melitracen in the management of trigeminal neuralgia

Abstract

Twelve patients with trigeminal neuralgia were treated with a daily dose of 2 mg Melitracen and 40 mg Flupenthixol. The majority of patients derived benefit from it. The former drug is a bipolar thymoeleptic and the latter a neuroleptic. There was no adverse side effects. The regime of treatment is recommended in cases that do not respond to conventional treatment.
