Horm Metab Res Suppl. 1985;15:3-9.

Abstract

The main sources of information on diabetes mortality are national mortality statistics, insurance studies and follow-up studies of defined cohorts of diabetics. The problems of the diagnostic accuracy of death certification in relation to diabetes mellitus are examined. The major causes of death in diabetics are discussed, as are recent time trends in diabetes mortality.
