Endorphins implicated in stereotypies of tethered sows

Experientia. 1986 Feb 15;42(2):198-9. doi: 10.1007/BF01952467.

Abstract

The study presents evidence that the stereotypies of tethered sows are associated with the release of endorphins. This is the first indication that stereotypies may be an effective coping strategy.
