Int Forum Allergy Rhinol. 2025 Sep;15(9):993-996. doi: 10.1002/alr.23618. Epub 2025 May 30.

Abstract

Empty nose syndrome (ENS) is closely linked to autonomic dysfunction. Greater ENS symptom severity correlates with a higher autonomic symptom burden. Surgical treatment for ENS may alleviate autonomic dysfunction symptoms.

Keywords: autonomic system; composite autonomic symptom score 31 (COMPASS 31); empty nose; empty nose syndrome six‐item questionnaire (ENS6Q); postoperative outcome; sinonasal outcome test‐25 (SNOT‐25).
