Abstract

Tools built in synthetic biology can recapitulate developmental processes through spatial and temporal control of cellular behaviour, allowing researchers to study the principles of developmental biology. In this new study, Sarah Soliman, Zara Weinberg and colleagues present a collection of small molecule- and cell contact-inducible systems for controlling gene expression and differentiation in mouse embryonic stem cells.
