In this study, a scoping review, we aimed to map the protocols reported in the scientific literature that are used to address reward eating. The scoping review process, which was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines, involved identifying the topic, formulating a guiding question, conducting a literature search based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, extracting and evaluating data from the selected studies, and critically analyzing the results. A total of 22 articles published between 2014 and 2024 from 3 databases, Lilacs, PsycInfo, and PubMed, were analyzed. The studies were categorized into 6 distinct protocol groups: diet (n = 8), specific training programs (n = 5), physical exercise (n = 2), apps (n = 2), phytotherapeutics protocol (n = 1), and studies with mixed protocols (n = 4). The findings of this review indicate a growing interest over the past decade in exploring the impact of reward eating in obesity treatments, highlighting the scientific pursuit of alternative methods for obesity management.
