Abstract

The title compound, [Zn(HPO₄)(C₅H₅N)] _n or pyZn(HPO₄) (1), was prepared from the solvothermal reaction of [Mo₃O₂(O₂CCH₃)₆(H₂O)₃]ZnCl₄ and H₃PO₄ in a mixture of pyridine and water. It displays an infinite ladder structure built of alternately arranged ZnO₃N and PO₃(OH) tetra-hedra, linked O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into supra-molecular sheets. C-H⋯O inter-actions between CH groups of the pyridine rings and phosphate groups connect the sheets into a three-dimensional framework structure.
