Trauma-informed, equity-focused, and community-led suicide prevention and healing is needed now more than ever. Globally, suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among youth. Further, youth from marginalized groups are at significantly higher risk for death by suicide. This article reviews the current methods, techniques, and evidence related to trauma-informed suicide prevention and healing and emphasizes the importance of modeling trauma-informed approaches and introspection of self and systems. The scope of the problem, key principles of prevention and intervention, lived experience perspectives, and calls to action are discussed.
