Acne is the most common dermatologic disease, and to date, acne treatments have not been monitored using imaging. This study evaluates the anatomical changes induced by a new acne treatment, selective photothermolysis, using gold nanoparticles, both clinically and with ultra-high-frequency ultrasound. Three adolescent patients with mild acne underwent a three-session treatment protocol combining nano-gold application with Q-Switched 1064 nm laser therapy. We found visible improvements in pore size and evidence of targeted thermal impact on sebaceous structures and neighboring tissues. These findings support the use of ultrasound as a valuable non-invasive tool for monitoring treatment effectiveness.
