Interface engineering in crystalline/amorphous Pd-Ru heterostructures for boosting alkaline hydrogen oxidation kinetics

Abstract

A crystalline/amorphous Pd-Ru heterostructure is developed for alkaline hydrogen oxidation. Pd nanoclusters decorated on amorphous Ru nanosheets induce an electron-rich heterointerface that concurrently optimizes H* and OH* adsorption, enabling a thermodynamically favorable Volmer step.
