Right atrium perforation by a pleural drain. Report of a case with survival

Thorac Cardiovasc Surg. 1983 Aug;31(4):247-8. doi: 10.1055/s-2007-1021989.

Abstract

A case of right atrium perforation by an intercostal drain is presented. The patient survived this serious complication. The fatal outcome was avoided by cross-clamping the pleural drain after withdrawing 800 to 1000 cl of blood, and an immediate X-ray study with contrast being carried out.
