Adaptation of the endocrine tissue of rat pancreas after partial pancreatectomy--a morphometric study

Acta Anat (Basel). 1983;116(4):346-52. doi: 10.1159/000145759.

Abstract

The changes occurring in the endocrine pancreas of the rat after partial pancreatectomy were studied morphometrically. Pancreatic adaptation of the functional deprivation of 75% of the endocrine tissue is characterized by a hyperplastic process with increased cell numbers and increased size and volume of the islets.
