A modified arthroplasty procedure for rigid hammertoe

J Foot Surg. 1983 Spring;22(1):40-4.

Abstract

In light of the need to conform to accepted techniques of surgical hemostasis and minimal trauma, a modified arthroplasty is proposed for the correction of rigid hammer toe. Bone wax is suggested as one possible means of attaining cancellous bone hemostasis, which is theorized to be a contributing factor in immediate and prolonged postoperative edema.
