Squamous carcinoma of the thymus

J Surg Oncol. 1984 Jan;25(1):61-3. doi: 10.1002/jso.2930250117.

Abstract

A rare case of squamous carcinoma of the thymus is described and the literature is reviewed. This type of thymic carcinoma is surgically curable even in the presence of local invasion. It also appears radiosensitive with apparent cure by radiotherapy alone observed. Its prognosis is better than squamous carcinoma of the lung with mediastinal involvement, and lymphoepithelioma-like thymic carcinoma.
