Depression in childhood

Aust Fam Physician. 1980 May;9(5):333-6.

Abstract

Rarely will antidepressants be effective, or will such therapy be the treatment of choice. Allowing the child, by giving him time, to express feelings of anger or sadness and helping the parents cope with the feelings they experience as a result of his words or behaviour, is an essential part of the therapeutic process. A depressed parent equally may require considerable assistance.
