Abstract

Accumulated and persistent gentamicin in the kidney, when given prophylactically, affords protection against ascending obstructive E. coli pyelonephritis. Similar protection was observed after administration of tobramycin, netilmicine and amikacin, aminoglucoside antibiotics that accumulate to varying degrees in the renal parenchyma.
