Abstract

For correcting copper metabolism in patients with hepatocerebral dystrophy use was made of boron compounds, particularly, of borax. The administration of the latter resulted in an increase of copper excretion in patients with all forms of hepatocerebral dystrophy. An inversely proportional relationship between the content of boron and copper in the patients' urine was discovered, the fact, that points to their competition. It is recommended to use boron compounds for removing copper from the body if this metal is accumulated in pathological quantities.
