The impact of the family on careers in psychiatry

Bull Menninger Clin. 1994 Fall;58(4):497-501.

Abstract

As more women with young children enter psychiatry, more attention needs to be placed on issues that arise because of conflicts between work and family. Some issues are unique to women, and some are related to dual-career families as a whole. The author outlines these issues and explores how the psychiatric profession can alleviate the stress often encountered by the professional family.
