Am Surg. 1995 Apr;61(4):324-5.

Abstract

Perforated appendicitis can be associated with pneumoperitoneum and diffuse peritonitis in the rare surgical patient. Several authors have speculated on the incidence of this complication ranging from 0 to 7.1%. In this review we will discuss two cases of appendicitis that presented with free air on upright chest roentgenogram.
