Neck abscess secondary to perforation and complete extraluminal migration of a pharyngeal foreign body (wire): a case report

Auris Nasus Larynx. 1993;20(1):47-51. doi: 10.1016/s0385-8146(12)80210-0.

Abstract

Only a small number of ingested foreign bodies perforate the food passage and even a smaller fraction migrate extraluminally. This report describes a 15-year-old male patient who developed neck abscess due to perforation and complete extraluminal migration of a pharyngeal foreign body (wire). The wire was removed by surgical exploration of the neck, while the lumen of the upper food and air passages were normal.
