Ethics and the nurse's commitment to political involvement: an educator's perspective on ethics and nursing

Semin Perioper Nurs. 1996 Apr;5(2):68-71.

Abstract

Perioperative nurses concomitantly practice in the legal, moral, ethical, and political domains. Although the domains are often thought of as separate entities they are interwoven in practice. This report uses values as the basis of their interconnectiveness. Ethics and politics are presented as problem solving processes. Specifically, ethics is used to justify moral behavior/conduct and politics to resolve conflicts with perioperative and other health care settings.
