Some questions about how growth standards are used

Horm Res. 1996:45 Suppl 2:18-23. doi: 10.1159/000184843.

Abstract

The use of a growth standard involves decisions about which growth chart to employ, which centiles on the chart to use as a cut-off for abnormal growth, and how to interpret the centile plots of specific individuals. Some of these issues are philosophical, whereas other are practical; however, they can all be addressed as a way of improving the usefulness of growth standards in a wide variety of situations.
