[Cesarean section performed in a country hospital in Zamość in the years 1980-1992]

Abstract

In years 1980-1992 cesarean section was performed in 13.6%, mostly because of fetal distress. The rate of cesarean sections was rising from 8.9% in 1980 up to 18.5% in 1991, with the fall about 2.9% and in 1992. There were no maternal deaths after cesarean sections. Newborns mortality was 2.69% and in 81.5% was concerning preterm infants with birth-weight below 2501 g.
