Epidemiology and management of failed sudden cardiac death

Hosp Med. 1998 Feb;59(2):116-9.

Abstract

With increasingly successful resuscitation many patients survive to reach hospital after a cardiac arrest but few survive to be discharged. Work on the investigation and treatment of such patients has begun to influence the outcome. This article reviews the epidemiology, mechanisms and management of failed sudden cardiac death, specifically in ischaemic heart disease.
