When your client in the surgical suite is Mexican American

Todays Surg Nurse. 1998 Nov-Dec;20(6):29-35.

Abstract

Although many Mexican Americans have assimilated into American culture, others have retained their cultural health beliefs about illness and medical treatment. Incorporating family members into the plan of care will greatly enhance compliance and health behaviors. The potential good of folk medicine should not be discounted; try to incorporate it into the existing plan of care.
