Abstract

Objective: To analyse the association between housework, burden, health status, and health services use in women (employed and homemakers) in Cornellà de Llobregat (Spain).

Methods: We included for analysis 520 women (employed and homemakers) aged 25 to 64 years old who were interviewed within the 1994 Cornellà Health Interview Survey.

Results: Living with elderly persons and being more than 4 members at home was associated with a poorer health status in employed women, who also had a less frequent use of health services when they lived with elderly persons.

Conclusion: Employed women have a higher probability of declaring a poor health status when their domestic workload is high.
